Privacy Policy

KinTerm puts your privacy first. Family data, dates, red envelope records, albums and almanac settings stay on your device and are never uploaded to any server. This page explains how the app and this website handle your data.
In-app data
We do not collect any personal data
Everything the app stores lives in the local database on your device and is never sent, uploaded or synced to our servers. We run no backend, no database and no cloud accounts. Pro backup and restore are actions you trigger yourself, stored in your own iCloud or Google storage, which we cannot reach.
Data scope
The app may store the following on your device locally:
- The family members you create: name, relationship to you, spouse, deceased status, an optional portrait, and the photos in each relative's album
- The dates you save: name, date, whether it follows the lunar calendar, the relative it belongs to and reminder settings
- Your red envelope and gift records (person, amount, occasion, date, note), almanac settings (the zodiac sign you set and the temples you turn on), your purchase status, and preferences such as regional vocabulary, language, voice, text size and theme
All of the above stays on your device and never leaves your phone.
Permissions
The app asks for a permission only when you use the matching feature: notifications when you turn on a reminder for a date or temple day, the photo picker when you add a picture for a relative, and calendar write access when you choose to add your dates to the system calendar. Camera, location, microphone and contacts are never requested: kinship terms and the almanac do not depend on where you are, pronunciation is synthesised rather than recorded, and relatives are entered by hand.

Only when you tap "add to calendar": the dates you saved are written into the calendar you pick, and existing events are never read
Never requested: the app takes no photos, kinship terms and the almanac do not depend on where you are, pronunciation is synthesised rather than recorded, and relatives are entered by hand
App third-party services
The app uses no advertising, analytics or tracking tools (no Google Analytics, Firebase or Meta SDK). Kinship terms, the family tree, dates, the almanac and fortune all work offline. The only two outside connections are your own iCloud or Google Drive when you run a Pro backup or restore, and Apple App Store or Google Play handling the one-time Pro payment; payment details stay with the platform and the app never touches your card.
Sharing and exporting
When you share a greeting, the daily fortune stick or the lucky-colour card, or export the family tree PDF or your gift records as a table, the app hands it to your phone's share sheet and you decide where it goes. The app never sends anything by itself and keeps no record of what you share.
Deleting your data
You can fully remove all app data at any time by uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app data / cache from system settings.
Website contact form
When you submit the contact form on this site we receive your name, email, subject, message, IP and user-agent. We use them only to reply to your inquiry — never for marketing, never shared with third parties.
Website third-party services
This site uses Cloudflare for DNS, CDN and security, and a transactional email service (Postmark / Resend) to send mail. These providers only handle the network requests needed to run the site and never touch your local app data.

Children's privacy
Neither the app nor this site is designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
